A Human native of mid 20th century Earth, Benny Russell was a science fiction writer who worked for Incredible Tales magazine. As a black man of this period, Russell faced considerable discrimination in both work and ordinary life, and was greatly angered by this. He was especially upset when his stories of a future space station with a black man in command were refused by the magazine on racial grounds. [1]
