Fala was a spiritual advisor to Major Kira during the Cardassian occupation, but he secretly doubted the Bajoran Prophets and became a follower of the pagh-wraiths. In 2375 he abducted Kira from Deep Space Nine and tried to convince her to join Dukat's cult on Empok Nor; the attempt failed. When Dukat tried to convince the cult members to committ suicide Fala was the only member who took the poison in order to demonstrate the strength of his faith. [1]
