A Ledosian, Barus led the first expedition into the Ventu enclosure after the forcefield surrounding it was brought down in 2377. He planned to evaluate the habitat's potential as a source of resources and assess the needs of the Ventu so that they could be provided with medicine, infrastructure, education and whatever else they needed. Voyager's crew quickly acted to re-raise the field so that the Ventu could remain contained inside. [1]
