A Bajoran, Dekon was a scientist and member of the resistance during the Cardassian occupation. He and Surmak Ren developed a biological weapon intended to induce aphasia in the Cardassians on Deep Space Nine; the virus was to be introduced by a device attached to a replicator which would add it to food and drink items. The device failed to activate, and was forgotten until finally triggered accidentally during the Federation management of the station in 2369. By this time Dekon had died due to neural trauma as a result of phaser fire. [1]
