A Klingon military officer, Kutal was the leader of the Klingon scientific research effort on the conquered planet Palgrenax in 2265. He chose to direct the effort from his ship in orbit, the I.K.S. Zin’za. Governor Morqla regarded Kutal as a major irritation in his life, in large part because of the contemptuous attitude the Captain displayed towards him. [1]In 2266 Kutal attacked a Federation transport, the Roanoak. He claimed that the attack was an accident caused by his mistaking the ship for an enemy vessel. The Roanoak's crew was subsequently rescued by the USS Endeavour. [2]
