A female Starfleet officer, Ensign Pawlikowski was an Earth Sciences specialist who served aboard the USS Enterprise in 2265. Spock assigned Pawlikowski to the landing party on Ravanar IV in that year in place of Lieutenant D'Amato, who had recently lost his wife in the destruction of the USS Bombay. D'Amato managed to convince Kirk that he would be able to perform his duty properly despite his grief and he replaced Pawlikowski on the mission. [1]
