Gorn Beacon

NotesImages
Universe : Prime Timeline
Name : Gorn Beacon [1]

When the Gorn attack a planet the first erect a beacon that interferes with communication in the system. This then allows them to move with impunity. [1] A significant proportion of their communication is visual, rather than over subspace radio. [2] When the Gorn attacked Parnassus Beta they erected the beacon just outside of the colony. The USS Enterprise used an unusual method to overcome the problem. They attached rocket pods to the remains of the USS Cayuga hull and accelerated it towards the beacon, making it look like a natural drift of wreckage, crashing down to the planet. [1]
