Lancelot Class was introduced in 2288 and rapidly became the workhorse of the survey and patrol fleet. One ship of the class NCC-2176 USS Leondegrance was captained by Nyota Uhura who took it on a five year mission to the Small Magellanic Cloud from 2301 to 2305. She took part in over 100 first contact missions with the civilisations she met there. The ship went on to be an Academy training craft in 2317, until the class retirement in 2336. [1]
