M'Kroon

NotesImagesDatapointsTimelinePeople
Universe : Prime Timeline
Species Name : M'Kroon [1]
Quadrant : Alpha [1]

The M'Kroon were a spacefaring race from the planet Vadia IX in the Alpha quadrant. With hairless heads and blue skin, the M'Kroon often had elaborate modifications visible on thei head, face, torso and arms. Every species typically has a form of greeting when meeting others. For example Humans shake hands. For the M'Kroon they touch their lips twice with the fingers of their right hand and then place them their chest. [1]

As of the 2261, the M'Kroon lived on several planets, including Vadia IX. Although they had been offered Federation membership more than one they didn't fully trust them and declined each time. The M'Kroonian alphabet shared similarities with other older languages found on distant worlds such as Polaris XII and Praetorian. [1]

Ancient M'Kroon performed ritual sacrifices in order to stand before the "deities of time". In 2261, Doctor Roger Korby, together with his then research fellow Christine Chapel, conducted excavations on Vadia IX. They discovered that the M'Kroon's ancestors dated back to an ancient civilisation, highly advanced and capable of traveling across multiple galaxies. The species were also believed to have discovered immortality. [1]

Later in 2261, the M'Kroon agreed to an investigation by the Federation at a sacred site on Vadia IX, hoping that they would learn the truth about their origins. The team discovered that by energizing a magnetic anomaly, they could unearth a high tech structure. Further investigations showed that the structure housed a dimensional prison for malevolent non-corporeal lifeforms called the Vezda. One of the lifeforms possessed Ensign Dana Gamble and caused several casualties before they could contain it. The M'Kroon have a great fear of the Vezda. In their language the work Vezda meads evil. [1]

The Federation worked with the M'Kroon to establish a security perimeter around the site. This gave the M'Kroon a new appreciation for the Federation. [1]
