Created in a transporter accident which combined Neelix and Tuvok, Tuvix served as a member of Voyager's crew for some weeks before the EMH developed a method of separating the two parts of him again. Tuvix declined the procedure on the grounds that he now constituted an independent lifeform with a right to live his own life; Janeway forced him to undergo the procedure anyway. [1]
